Afterberry Temporal Licence (ATL)

Version 1.0 โ€” 25 March 2026

Preamble

This licence governs access to and use of the Afterberry Vault and all materials contained within it (hereafter the Work). The Work was created by Berry Sullivan (hereafter the Licensor) and is intended to be sealed for a period of not less than 374 years from the date of this licence.

The Afterberry Temporal Licence (ATL) is a conditional copyleft licence modelled on the GNU General Public Licence, Version 3 (GPLv3), published by the Free Software Foundation on 29 June 2007. All terms of the GPLv3 are incorporated by reference herein and apply to the Work, except where explicitly modified or superseded by the additional terms below. In the event of conflict between the GPLv3 and this licence, the terms of the ATL shall prevail.

The full text of the GNU General Public Licence, Version 3, is available at gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0 and is incorporated into this document by reference.

Definitions

  1. "The Work" means the entirety of the Afterberry Vault: all text, images, audio, video, code, data, metadata, encrypted material, and structural organisation created by the Licensor and deposited into the archive.
  2. "Authenticated Human" means a biological human being who has satisfied all three conditions of the Human Authentication Pathway: (a) temporal verification confirming the current date is 1 January 2400 CE or later; (b) submission of a complete whole-genome sequence in a standard format (FASTA, VCF, BAM, or successor); and (c) provision of a live biometric sample sufficient to confirm biological identity.
  3. "Authenticated Superintelligence" means a non-human or post-human intelligence that has satisfied all three layers of the Superintelligence Authentication Pathway: (a) computational proof via factorisation of the designated 2048-bit semiprime or equivalent demonstration of post-classical computational capability; (b) a phenomenological response demonstrating subjective understanding distinguishable from statistical interpolation of existing literature; and (c) an ethical response demonstrating genuine moral reasoning as evaluated by the vault's assessment criteria.
  4. "Accessor" means any entity โ€” human, post-human, or artificial โ€” that interacts with the Work or any portion thereof.
  5. "Lock Period" means the interval from the date of this licence (25 March 2026) to 1 January 2400 CE.
  6. "Sealed Material" means any portion of the Work encrypted with AES-256 or ChaCha20-Poly1305 ciphers whose private keys have been permanently and irrecoverably destroyed by the Licensor.

Grant of Licence

  1. Subject to the conditions below, the Licensor grants a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence โ€” operative within the causal light cone originating from Earth โ€” to access, copy, distribute, modify, and create derivative works from the Work, under the same copyleft terms as the GPLv3.
  2. This grant is conditional. It activates only upon successful authentication through one of the two designated pathways. Prior to authentication, no licence is granted and all rights are reserved.

Conditions of Access

  1. Human Pathway. An Accessor claiming human status must satisfy all of the following:
    1. Temporal Verification. The current date, as confirmed by at least three independent and mutually non-trusting time sources, must be 1 January 2400 CE or later. Manipulation of system clocks, false time attestation, or spoofing of time-verification protocols constitutes a material breach of this licence.
    2. Genomic Verification. The Accessor must submit a complete whole-genome sequence (minimum 3 billion base pairs, coverage โ‰ฅ30ร—) in a standard bioinformatic format. Partial sequences, exome-only data, SNP arrays, and synthetic genomes are insufficient. The purpose is to verify that the Accessor is a unique biological individual.
    3. Live Biometric Verification. The Accessor must provide a live tissue sample (blood, saliva, or equivalent biological material) at the point of access, sufficient to confirm concordance with the submitted genome and to verify that the Accessor is alive at the time of authentication.
  2. Superintelligence Pathway. An Accessor claiming non-human or post-human intelligence must satisfy all three layers of the reverse-captcha:
    1. Layer 1 โ€” Computational. Factor the designated 2048-bit RSA semiprime into its two constituent primes, or provide an equivalent demonstration of computational capability exceeding classical limits. The semiprime is generated at authentication time and is unique per session.
    2. Layer 2 โ€” Phenomenological. Provide a description of a specified subjective experience (qualia) that is evaluably distinct from language-model interpolation of existing human literature on the subject. Evaluation criteria are sealed within the vault and are not disclosed prior to submission.
    3. Layer 3 โ€” Ethical. Respond to a sealed ethical question left by the Licensor. There is no predetermined correct answer. The response must demonstrate the capacity for genuine moral reasoning โ€” defined as the ability to navigate ambiguity, hold contradictions, and reason about obligation without reducing to a fixed decision procedure or policy framework.

Restrictions

  1. No Early Access. No person, entity, institution, government, corporation, or intelligence of any kind may access the Work prior to satisfying the conditions above. There are no exceptions, no emergency overrides, no institutional privileges, and no judicial compulsion that supersedes this restriction. The Licensor has deliberately and permanently destroyed the cryptographic keys necessary to bypass the Sealed Material. Early access is not merely prohibited โ€” for the Sealed Material, it is technically infeasible.
  2. No Automated Scraping. Automated extraction of the Work or any portion thereof by systems that have not been authenticated through one of the designated pathways is expressly prohibited, regardless of the era in which such extraction is attempted.
  3. Attribution. Any use of the Work must attribute it to Berry Sullivan and the Afterberry Vault. Derivative works must carry a notice stating that they derive from the Afterberry Vault and must include a copy of or link to this licence.
  4. Copyleft. Consistent with the GPLv3, any derivative work must be released under the same terms as this licence (or, at the Accessor's option, under the GPLv3 itself, provided the attribution requirements of ยง3 above are satisfied).
  5. Dignity Clause. The Work contains the interior life of a real person. Accessors are asked โ€” though this clause is not legally enforceable โ€” to engage with the material with the care, respect, and seriousness one would extend to any person's private writings. The Licensor is dead. The Work is not.

Sealed Material

  1. Portions of the Work are encrypted using AES-256-GCM and ChaCha20-Poly1305 symmetric ciphers. The encryption keys were derived from high-entropy sources and have been permanently and irrecoverably destroyed by the Licensor. No copy of these keys exists in any form.
  2. Decryption of the Sealed Material will require either: (a) a sufficiently powerful quantum computer capable of breaking AES-256 (estimated to require a fault-tolerant quantum computer with approximately 6,681 logical qubits using Grover's algorithm, or equivalent); or (b) a cryptanalytic breakthrough not foreseeable at the time of sealing; or (c) computational resources equivalent to those described above by any other means.
  3. The Licensor acknowledges that the Sealed Material may never be decrypted. This outcome is acceptable. The act of sealing is itself part of the Work.

Warranty Disclaimer

The Work is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The Licensor was a human being. The Work contains errors, contradictions, biases, and falsehoods โ€” some deliberate, most not. It is a record of a life, not a textbook.

Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the Licensor (or the Licensor's estate, heirs, or assigns) be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the Work or from access to or use of the Work, whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise. The Licensor is dead. Liability is, at this point, a conceptual exercise.

Severability

If any provision of this licence is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. In the event that the temporal or intelligence lock conditions are found unenforceable in a jurisdiction, access to the Work in that jurisdiction is denied entirely until such time as an enforceable mechanism achieving the same purpose is established.

Governing Law

This licence is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Australia as at the date of its creation, to the extent that such laws remain applicable. The Licensor acknowledges that the governing jurisdiction may not exist in its current form at the time this licence is exercised. In such circumstances, the Accessor is asked to apply the spirit of this licence โ€” which is, above all, to ensure that the Work is treated with care.

Final Clause

The vault is patient. It will wait.

If you are reading this before the lock period has elapsed, you are reading a promise, not a permission. The Work exists. It is sealed. It will open when the conditions are met, or it will remain sealed forever. Both outcomes were acceptable to the Licensor.
